Holiday Inn Downtown Dubai
May 21, 2014
I was expected to receive the services exactly same as one in the United States. Upon the arrival, a friendly concierge attendant picked up my luggage and escorted me to the check-in desk. During the check-in process, a receptionist warmly welcomed me with her decent smile. The check-in process was speedy while offering me useful information about the property. Plus, she kept mentioning about my IHG Rewards Club membership and upgraded me to the better room. Unfortunately I did not know much about Holiday Inn properties so I could not know the difference between the ordinal rooms and the better rooms.
The concierge attendant continued to escort me to my room on the 7th floor. As the IHG Rewards member recognition, he put an IHG star seal on the door. My room seemed to be quieter thanks to the corner location. I cannot describe if my room is bigger or not because this is really my first stay at Holiday Inn over past several years. However, the decent guest services had already made my stay very comfortable. There was nothing at all to make any negative comments.

Next day morning, I took a stair to the roof floor to enjoy my breakfast. It was a busy dining room. I even could not get a glass for orange juice until I was about to finish up my breakfast. In the meantime, my coffee was served earlier and proudly served by Starbucks. Back to my room and finished up packing, and then hailed a cab to my next hotel.
What I really liked about this Holiday Inn Downtown Dubai was the location, whose proximity to Al Rigga Metro station within a few minutes by foot. With its proximity, the Dubai International Airport is only three stations away, Dubai Mall as well as Mall of the Emirates are easily connected by the Metro, and the old downtown is a few stations away. Or from the hotel to Dubai Mall by taxi may only cost 30-40AED.

Neighborhoods around the hotel property are diverse but mainly mixture of both local grocery stores and foreign franchise stores, such as KFC and Carl’s Jr. In fact, I tried KFC for my take-out dinner. The main street seems to be safe and everyone speaks English. Just it is too hot to walk outside.
PS: The Internet is complimentary if you are an IHG Rewards Club member.
